The Yarrow stadium is named after the late Noel Yarrow, a pioneering Taranaki baker and businessman, and active philanthropist. A passionate rugby supporter the major grandstand overlooking the field's western sideline pays tribute to the support extended to Rugby by Yarrow. The venue was first developed as a rugby ground in 1931 and the first stadium was built and completed in 1947.
